Environmental Defense Fund, a leading national not-for-profit organization representing more than 700,000 members which leverages science, economics and law to create innovative, equitable and cost-effective solutions to society's most urgent environmental problems.
Situation
Membership marketing efforts are responsible for a majority of our Client’s fundraising efforts. Unfortunately, almost all marketing research and analysis was performed using general purpose business intelligence reporting tools, which made campaign segmentation efforts a labor intensive process which often caused delays in their direct mail and telemarketing initiatives. EDF was looking for a hosted marketing management solution that could integrate with their planned migration to a new, cloud-based, fundraising CRM solution.
Solution
RiverPoint Solutions Group, in conjunction with partner RackSpace, established a hosted IBM Unica Marketing environment. Our consultants conducted an implementation process that combined requirements gathering, solutions design and implementation with on-going product knowledge transfer through every stage of the implementation life-cycle. This program allowed the Client’s marketing team to gain immediate hands- on experience with the IBM Unica products, allowing them to derive expected benefits immediately after implementing the solution. Finally, RiverPoint recommended and implemented Informatica Cloud Data services to replicate required data from their new cloud-based, fundraising CRM solution, Convio Common Ground.
Benefits
Implementing the IBM Unica Marketing suite allowed our Client to develop a library of repeatable marketing processes that ultimately reduced the time and effort required to complete their campaign segmentation efforts and delivery data files to their print and telemarketing vendors. Implementing the IBM Unica Marketing suite also enabled the capacity for tracking response channels independently of contact channel, as well as the construction of non-responder follow-up campaigns. Finally, the ability to capture point-in-time contact demographic data has provided a new ability characterize future donor capacity for inclusion in future campaign segmentations.
